Remodeling a master bedroom has become one of the most popular changes that people now undertake in their home but it hasn’t always been that way. Gradually, the movement to make the bedroom a more special place is gaining momentum as more of us decide that we want more from this room. In this part of the world we are a little behind Europe, they have been using the bedroom for much more for a long time; the French and Italians have always seen it as sensual place for example.
This can be achieved with the use of certain colors that have a warm and emotional feel to them, associated with sensuality; pinks, reds and peaches all fall into this category. Of course to improve upon this and enhance the atmosphere further you will need the subtle use of mirrors and candles along with some beautiful tropical plants; I am sure you can see the appeal to this already. Although there are people that like to read in their master bedroom whether it is on the bed itself or in a relaxing chair this is not a new idea as it has been practiced for centuries when people spent more time in their bedroom.
However, good lights for reading are required that are not too harsh on the eyes and a shaded table lamp on a small circular table next to the armchair will really set the scene. When you are decorating your master bedroom to be a reading room as well, certain colors will need to be used to enhance the effect further like ivory or sage green for instance. Remodeling the master bedroom ‘come sanctuary’ is quite an easy remodeling with only large pillows or cushions, a throw or two needed; with perhaps a landscape or seascape picture which can be reflected in a mirror to complete the conversion.
It is also possible to use this as a reading room if you add a chair and small table with a lamp. This feeling of sanctuary which you are hoping to achieve when you remodel your master bedroom can be helped by having family photos spread around the room, but in period frames which help provide that sense of history. Colors that work well in private sanctuaries include navy or cobalt blues, deep chocolates, and forest greens as darker colors create a womb or cave like feeling and aid deep sleep.
Where space is not a problem then by placing a small television or writing desk, it can make the master bedroom feel like a place that you can completely retire to. You can even add a refrigerator providing you can find a suitable cabinet to conceal it and often a small tea or coffee service will complete the effect. This could be a challenge as once this type of master bedroom remodeling project is complete; you may not want to leave it.
